DJI Mini 2 - a worthy successor to the DJI Mavic Mini
Tomorrow will see the launch of the new drone, which is a newer version of the DJI Mavic Mini. DJI in the second half of 2020, following the introduction of the Osmo Mobile 4, the DJI Mavic Air 2, the recent launch of the DJI Pocket 2 and gimbalsDJI RS 2 / DJI RSC2, launches new Mini drone.
DJI Mavic Miniwas a hit, the small drone is already familiar to anyone with even a passing interest in drones. The first feature associated with this device is its light weight - 249g, so you can take it virtually anywhere and fly it without permits. At the beginning of the new year, the following are changing aviation regulations on flying drones, however, for the Mini 2 it will not be a significant difference.
Currently, what we know about the Mini 2 is that its weight will not change and it will still be 249g. DJI changes the name of the product - it will not be DJI Mavic Mini 2, but DJI Mini 2. The company is abbreviating the names of its products, as exemplified by the shortened and simplified names of the DJI RS2 / RSC2 gimbals and theOM 4 and mobile camera Pocket 2. As for the parameters of the new Mini 2, there will definitely be a camera with 4K resolution (many users lacked this in the Mavic Mini), the sensor remains as in the predecessor 1/2.3 inches. It is not yet known whether the manufacturer has equipped the drone with the ability to record in format .raw or will we be left with the format as in the Mavic Mini .jpg. Many users are looking forward to improving this very issue.
Another new feature of the Mini 2 will surely be its controller. We will control the drone using a transmitter familiar from the Mavica Air 2.larger battery in the camera means additionally several hours of flights on a single charge.
The biggest differences from the first version of the Mavica Mini? No doubt the OcuSync 2.0 radio transmission system, which will give the drone a more stable and longer range. Micro-USB port on controller will replace USB-C port.
The Mini 2 will also lack obstacle detection sensors, which most likely has to do with keeping the weight below 250g. It's a shame, because at least one sensor (as was the case in the Spark) would have made a huge difference for many users. DJI drones, however, make up for the lack of sensors in the Mavic Mini and the new Mini 2 with the ability to connect DJI Care Refresh insurance , which you can read more about at our blog.
We can also expect a larger battery capacity, relative to the first generation, so the expected flight time should also be longer than those 30 minutes.
From the first photos, you can't see much difference in the appearance of the Mavic 2.
And what else hides under the casing? What other important features and parameters this drone hides we will soon find out.
