News about drones - June 2024

In today's article, we bring you the latest news from the world of drones, which are becoming increasingly important in both the military and civilian sectors.

Polish drone troops will be formed

On Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz announced the establishment of "drone troops" - air, ground, surface and underwater. This is to strengthen Poland's eastern borders as part of Operation Shield East. Drones are to be present in every unit of the armed forces, although details are still unknown.

Latvia has similar plans, allocating 20 million euros for a "drone army." Lithuania, Estonia, Finland and Norway have also announced an initiative to create a "drone wall." These countries have seen the successful use of drones in the war in Ukraine and intend to develop a domestic drone industry and train soldiers in their use and defense against them.

Drones DJI may be banned in the US

The U.S. Congress will consider a bill in June that could block access to drones DJI. If FCC authorizations are revoked, operators in the US will lose the ability to use and purchase new drones DJI. DJI fights this law and encourages users to submit votes against the.

It is worth adding that the bill is based on inaccurate claims and contradicts technological approaches that could improve the overall level of drone safety.

Amazon gets permission to fly drones

Drone delivery services are growing fastest in the US, where companies like Zipline, Wing, and Matternet are partnering with giants like Walmart. Amazon, which has been trying to implement drone deliveries for more than a decade, recently received FAA approval for BVLOS (beyond the operator's line of sight) flights.

To achieve this, Amazon had to present the DAA (Detect-and-Avoid) system, which provides detection and avoidance of other objects in the air. Demonstrations took place in the presence of FAA inspectors with the participation of real aircraft and balloons. With the new approval, Amazon plans to expand its drone deliveries in Texas, allowing customers to order thousands of products with same-day delivery.

Update DJI Avata 2

The new version of the Avata 2 racing drone is already compatible with the accessories of the first version, i.e. DJI Goggles 2, Goggles Integra, DJI RC Motion 2 and FPV Remote Controller 2. Owners can purchase the drone itself to enjoy new capabilities.

Summary

Drones are changing the face of both military and logistics. Poland, Latvia and other Nordic countries are investing in drone technology, recognizing its potential to protect borders and conduct defense operations. Meanwhile, in the U.S., drone regulations are being debated DJI, which could affect the consumer and industrial markets. Amazon continues its innovative approach to delivery, and DJI is constantly introducing new products that meet the needs of amateurs and professionals alike.
