DJI is a company known probably to every person interested in drones. Although for a long time the manufacturer has been developing its offerings mainly in terms of devices for hobbyists and people recording video footage, earlier this year the Shenzhen-based company decided to introduce a complete novelty. We are talking about the DJI FlyCart 30 transport drone, which features a payload capacity of up to 40 kg. What is the use of the FlyCart drone and what distinguishes this device?

The premiere of the new DJI transport drone took place in early 2024, more precisely on January 10. DJI FlyCart 30 Drone is the first device from this category in the manufacturer's offer. The equipment can be purchased on its own (with controller, box and cables) or complete with additional accessories, which include:

  • c8000 dedicated charging station with a maximum charging power of up to 7,200 W (two wires; with one wire - 3,600 W);
  • additional DB2000 smart batteries with capacity 38,000 mAh;
  • winch to be mounted under the drone along with with mounting kit, which provides convenient and efficient handling when transporting loads.

Batteries must be purchased separately. It is worth noting that both the drone accessories and the drone itself are characterized by rather large dimensions. The device itself weighs 42.5 kg (without batteries) or 65 kg (with batteries), and its maximum takeoff weight is 95 kg (with loaded box). This means that the flights are included in the special (or certified - for example, in the case of flying over gatherings of people or transporting hazardous materials) category. This, in turn, comes with additional requirements for operators and pilots. SBSP registration is required for drone flights over 25 kg in Poland and maintain authorization for reported operations

But let's get back to the specifications, because they are really impressive - noteworthy is the extremely wide operating temperature range (from -20°C to 45°C), which allows you to fly safely in virtually any weather conditions. The manufacturer additionally took care of a number of safety features, including protection systems against high temperature, improper voltage or emergency stopping of propellers in case of an accident.

Also on board was 4,000-watt motor, 1,920 × 1,440 resolution vision system and parachute system, and transportation is facilitated by a cargo box with a capacity of up to 40 kg. Flight time when fully loaded is 18 minutes (two batteries, 30 kg) or 9 minutes (one battery, 40 kg), depending on the configuration. The maximum range, in turn, is from 16 km (fully loaded) to 28 km (unloaded).

What's more, the included DJI RC Plus camera provides a number of advanced features, such as Dual Control mode for simultaneous control by two operators, further enhancing the drone's functionality. At first glance, it is clear that the FlyCart 30 is definitely a drone for special tasks. The device was created for the most demanding conditions, and the manufacturer has made every effort to allow the transportation of cargo to hard-to-reach places. Where you can use the new equipment from DJI? Applications can be listed almost endlessly - here are some of the most interesting areas in which to bet on a massive drone from under the DJI banner.

The primary use of the FlyCart 30 drone focuses on transporting goods to hard-to-reach places. Thanks to its robust, well-thought-out design cargo carrying drone will lift up to 40 kg (when operating with a single battery - the battery alone weighs 10 kg). At the same time, despite its size, the FlyCart 30 is quite agile and intuitive to use. As a result, you can count on efficient, secure deliveries in locations where using traditional solutions presents some challenges. Mountainous areas, extreme temperatures, adverse weather conditions - none of these issues are major obstacles for this model. To ensure the full safety of goods, the manufacturer has taken care of advanced protection and redundancy systems, which allows to perform flights in the most demanding scenarios.

Cargo transportation with the DJI FlyCart 30 can be done in two modes: Cargo (with cargo box) or Winch (with winch). As a result, operators can easily adapt the drone's functionality to current requirements. The winch is sold separately, and uncoiling and coiling of the cable that holds the load can be done manually or automatically.

Its design allows stable flight in the most demanding conditions - even in situations where a helicopter would not be able to handle the transport. However, the medical and rescue applications of the FlyCart 30 drone do not end with just rescue operations in difficult terrain. The new DJI model can be used for rapid transport of blood between hospitals. Its maximum horizontal speed of 20 m/s, or 72 km/h, combined with its easy and efficient operation, ensures the ability to deliver material instantly in demanding situations. This is especially important in the case of operations and accidents, where even a few seconds of delay can decide the fate of the patient.
