No, DJI RC 2 does not allow installation of third-party applications.
Does DJI RC 2 support DJI Cellular Dongle 2?
The control unit DJI RC 2 is not directly compatible with DJI Cellular Dongle 2. However, it can access the mobile network when connected to a smartphone's Wi-Fi hotspot. Then, when combined with the DJI Cellular Dongle 2 mounted on the drone, this configuration allows you to use the Enhanced Transmission function.
Does the maximum range of O4 video transmission vary depending on the level of interference in the environment?
Depending on the environment, the level of wireless interference varies, and the maximum transmission range will vary.
Unhindered:
Strong interference: urban landscape, ca. 1.5-4 km;
Medium interference: suburban landscape, approx. 4-10 km;
Low interference: suburbs / coastal areas, approx. 10-20 km;
With obstacles:
Low interference and building obstructions: ok. 0-0.5 km;
Low interference and tree obstructions: ok. 0.5-3 km;
*Measured according to FCC standard in environments with typical interference. The information provided here is for reference only and is not a guarantee of actual transmission distance.
What are the network speed requirements for DJI Air 3S to use the Enhanced Transmission function?
Make sure that the network speed is at least 5 Mbps.
Is it possible to manually switch between Enhanced Transmission and standard drone video transmission?
If there is no signal from standard video transmission, switching between Enhanced Transmission and standard transmission is not possible.
However, if both the original video transmission signal and 4G link signal, you can manually enable or disable the Enhanced Transmission function.
How much data DJI Air 3S consumes when using Enhanced Transmission?
When operating under good video transmission signal conditions DJI O4, DJI Air 3S does not activate 4G video transmission link.
If the transmission is completely switched to a 4G connection, a 30-minute flight will consume about 1 GB of data. This value serves only as a reference. Check actual data consumption.
Why there is sometimes increased latency when using Enhanced Transmission in live view?
Enhanced Transmission using 4G technology connects the drone and control camera to a server, which then transmits video and control commands. The performance of this method depends on the 4G signal strength of both the drone, as well as the camera, so it is important to use it in areas where the 4G signal on the controller or smartphone is at or near full strength.
Moreover, the drone may encounter a weaker 4G signal during flight due to several factors:
- Base stations direct 4G signals mainly toward the ground, so the quality is naturally worse in the air and deteriorates with altitude. In urban areas filled with tall buildings, although the aerial signal may be stronger, it is more likely to encounter network congestion.
- During flight, there is a possibility of encountering increased noise and interference in the air, which can cause delays in the drone's 4G connection.
- The 4G range of each base station is quite limited, ranging from tens to hundreds of meters in urban environments. As a result, the drone must constantly switch from one base station to another during flight, and each switch can affect the smoothness of data transmission.
Does DJI Air 3S equipped with DJI Cellular Dongle 2 support remote takeoff/landing or remote control from another location when O4 video transmission is disabled?
Does DJI Cellular Dongle 2 support mobile virtual network operator SIM cards?
What types of SIM cards are supported by DJI Cellular Dongle 2? Are there any related factors to be aware of?
- DJI Cellular Dongle 2 is compatible with cards nano-SIM and eSIM (Currently, eSIM cards are not supported outside of mainland China). Purchase a SIM card and use it according to local regulations.
- Definitely it is recommended to purchase a SIM card that supports the 4G network from the official mobile network operator.
- Do not use IoT card, because it will adversely affect the quality of video transmission.
- Do not use the SIM card provided by the virtual mobile network operator, as it it may cause problems with the network connection.
- Do not trim the SIM card yourself - Otherwise, it may be damaged, and rough edges and corners may prevent it from being properly inserted or removed.
- If the SIM card has a password (PIN code) set, first insert it into the smartphone and disable the PIN code. Otherwise, there may be problems with the network connection.
- Do not insert or remove the SIM card after turning on DJI Cellular Dongle 2.
Does DJI Cellular Dongle 2 support 5G network?
In which countries or regions Enhanced Transmission is not supported?
What to keep in mind about using Enhanced Transmission when traveling between mainland China and other countries or regions?
What actions are required when using Enhanced Transmission with different control apparatuses?
What to keep in mind when using Enhanced Transmission?
- When using Enhanced Transmission during landing, if the drone is only connected via the 4G network, will only be able to take off again within three minutes of landing. After this time, restarting will not be possible unless you are within range of the O4 video transmission system connection. Pay special attention to this when flying out of O4 range. Always fly with caution.
- Always operate in areas where the 4G signal on the control camera or smartphone is at or near full strength for a better Enhanced Transmission experience.
- Enhanced Transmission relies on a 4G network, which can introduce some lag and stuttering when the O4 signal is disconnected. Always fly with caution.
- When the O4 video transmission signal is weak or interrupted, make sure you maintain a proper altitude while flying. In open areas, try to keep flight altitude below 120 meters for better 4G signal.
- When flying in urban areas with tall buildings, make sure the correct RTH altitude is set (higher than the tallest building).
- When flying in GEO zones with tall buildings, enable the APAS function. Always fly with caution.
- Flying beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) is not recommended, especially at night.
- When the DJI Fly app displays the message "Weak 4G signal. Fly with caution.", take extra care when flying.
What to keep in mind when using Enhanced Transmission with apraratura DJI RC 2 connected to a smartphone hotspot?
Will an incoming phone call interrupt Enhanced Transmission when using DJI RC-N3 connected to a phone or DJI RC 2 hooked up to a smartphone Wi-Fi hotspot?
How to update DJI Air 3S software?
What factors can lead to the failure of the upgrade?
- The battery charge level of the drone is below 20%.
- The drone or control apparatus has been disabled during the update. In this situation, restart the equipment and try again.
- While downloading the software, there was a network disconnection.
- While downloading the software the smartphone interface was switched to other applications.
What features are supported by the charging hub designed for DJI Air 3 series drone batteries?
The charging hub supports new energy accumulation and external discharge functions:
Energy accumulation: after inserting two or more batteries, you can press and hold the function button to initiate a process in which the batteries with a lower charge level transfer their power to the battery with the highest charge level. Such a solution makes full use of the remaining power and ensures longer flight time.
External discharge: the hub's USB-C port allows you to charge devices such as smartphones and tablets with up to 82 watts of power (from the battery inside).
*During energy accumulation, do not connect chargers or external devices or insert/remove batteries.
Can you charge your drone's battery with other chargers?
Yes. However, to ensure the highest charging performance, we recommend using the DJI 65W portable mains charger, DJI USB-C 100W power adapter, or other chargers with an output of at least 60W, that support the PD standard.
How to install DJI Cellular Dongle 2?
Start by grasping the back end of the mobile network modem compartment cover and lifting it to remove it. Once you've done that, scan the QR code visible inside the chamber to watch a detailed instructional video on disassembly and use. Follow the video instructions to properly install DJI Cellular Dongle 2. Then put the chamber cover back on, turn on the drone and connect to the control apparatus. Once connected, go to the camera view in the DJI Fly app and check that the 4G function works properly.
