Airpeak - Sony enters the drone market!
Drones from Sony - will the electronics giant conquer the drone market?
I would venture to say that probably everyone is familiar with the Japanese company Sony, one of the largest electronics manufacturers in the world. Even if you are not quite familiar with the brand, in all likelihood the matrix in your smartphone is from this giant. It is a brand that has been in existence since 1946 and has many successes to its credit.
PlayStation, Xperia, Walkman, Discman, Bravia, Alpha - these are just some of the Sony products that have gained enormous popularity.
Sony enters drone market
As early as spring 2021 we will see Sony Airpeak. The emergence of the news of Sony's entry into the drone market is very happy news for us! The year 2020 can be considered tough and certainly very unusual, while many companies through the pandemic caused by covid-19 are forced to slow down their turnover, things are getting interesting in the drone market! DJI can feel the breath of competition on its back more and more clearly, the only threat is not just drones from Sony. The European market will see the arrival of the American Skydio any day now, and not so long ago Autel arrived, which is gaining popularity. The monopoly that DJI currently holds in the global drone market may no longer be so obvious within two or three years.
Competition as a benefit to the drone market
The appearance of another company on the drone market is a good sign for users of these modern devices. Competition means DJI can't rest on its laurels. More affordable drones - what the console market would look like if PlayStation didn't compete with Xbox from Microsoft? It can be concluded that prices would be much higher. The fight for the customer is not only about the final amount. Often more important is the better functionality, performance and capabilities of the drone. In a nutshell - more resources allocated to development and pulling aces from the sleeve. Race to market unmanned is becoming more and more interesting, and as a result, we consumers will be able to equip ourselves with more and more advanced devices.
The drone market is growing year by year
It's likely that Sony and other companies have been watching and analyzing the drone market for a long time, and as Sony has shown, they're even developing and building their models. GoPro with the Karma model, which was an interesting drone unfortunately lost the marathon. We believe that this was influenced by a bad start and the first "failure" models, as well as too high a price. Maybe if Karma had debuted a year or two earlier this rivalry would have looked different. Interesting fact: at the time when the prices of Karma drones were reduced by 1000 zloty and amounted, together with the camera, to about. pLN 3,000 (camera alone PLN 1,500) was a sales hit that showed that not everyone has to own a DJI drone. Sony has a very large technological base, experience and budget. The synergy of these variables can result in very interesting solutions. We hope that the company will not model its products on the competition but will do it their own way, we keep our fingers crossed that they will surprise us with something innovative. The brand has many fans and followers convinced by the quality of the products. The release of the Sony drone, no matter what specific parameters it will have, flight time and range may go down the drain. The "Sony" stamp may be a suitable purchase argument if it is within the right budget.
Sony Airpeak - first information
The company writes on its website that Sony's drones are expected to arrive in the spring of 2021, which is very likely, since the drone already exists and is in the testing phase. Sony's product is expected to support the creativity of video creators, contribute to the development of the entertainment industry, as well as improve productivity and bring cost savings to various industries. In addition, we can expect smart solutions for obstacle recognition, drone control and flight safety. There will also be talk of artificial intelligence, which could point to a kind of "smart" drone of the likes of Skydio. Sony Alpha, CyberShot - Sony is known for its high image quality. This is also what we expect from the drone or drones that are likely to appear in 2021.
The short footage shows little. We see a brushless motor and folding propellers - presumably the first model will not be a recreational drone. A moving arm can be seen in the background. We assume that there will be several models. There will probably be competition for the DJI Mavic, a series that is currently the biggest sales hit. We are also hoping for an industrial model. By the day of the presentation of the new products, Sony should reveal to us some more details about its latest venture. We keep our fingers crossed for Sony drones and look forward to 2021.
