BetaFPV Matrix 1S brushless flight controller (5in1)

BetaFPV Matrix 1S brushless flight controller (5-in-1)
The Matrix 1S Brushless Flight Controller is a highly integrated solution designed for beginners and FPV enthusiasts. Its robust 1mm thick board ensures durability during intensive training, and built-in motor connectors simplify installation by eliminating the need for soldering. Updated with the G473 processor, it offers a 55% performance increase over the F411, providing more precise control for racing and freestyle. In addition, its high-performance 5.8 GHz video transmitter with 400 mW of power ensures stable and high-quality video transmission.
Note: stay tuned for our upcoming 3IN1 version, tailored for 1S whoop quads with HD VTX.

Note
- The Matrix 1S brushless flight controller is designed with beginner and recreational pilots in mind, offering greater durability thanks to a thicker board and no soldering required - making it ideal for entry-level users. As a result, it is slightly heavier than the Air Brushless Flight Controller 5IN1 version. For more advanced FPV pilots looking for a more responsive, racing experience, we strongly recommend the Air Brushless FC 5IN1 version. Both the Matrix 1S Brushless FC and Air Brushless FC 5IN1 have passed rigorous testing and meet competitive standards.

- The flight controllers are warranted against manufacturing defects. Problems resulting from user error, mechanical damage, damage during installation or disassembly, modifications, surges, electrical fires or contact with water are not covered.
- VTX power: Higher VTX power consumes more energy and generates more heat, which reduces flight time. For better flight time in indoor scenarios, use a power of 25~100mW.
- VTX Antenna: Connect and install the image transmission antenna before powering up the flight controller. Alternatively, set the transmission power to 0 to avoid burnout.
Highlights
- Reinforced Design: The Matrix 1S brushless flight controller features a rugged 1mm thick circuit board. Although slightly heavier, this design increases durability during daily training. For more advanced pilots, the Air Brushless FC 5IN1 version offers a lighter alternative.
- Simplified installation: the Matrix 1S Brushless FC is a true all-in-one flight controller, integrated with FC+VTX+OSD+ESC+RX, plus standard motor connectors, making installation and maintenance extremely simple. Ideal for beginners in FPV, this design requires no soldering and provides a smooth installation experience.
- Enhanced Performance: Updated with the G473 processor, the Matrix 1S Brushless FC achieves an exceptional 55% increase in computing speed over the F411, providing faster response in precision racing and complex freestyle maneuvers.
- Premium video transmission: Equipped with a high-quality 5.8 GHz VTX transmitter supporting up to 400 mW, the Matrix 1S provides stable and accurate transmission for both everyday flying and top-level racing.

Below is the diagram for Matrix 1S Brushless FC.

Comparison between Matrix 1S, F4 1S 5A AIO & Air 5IN1
The Matrix 1S Brushless Flight Controller is designed with beginners in mind, offering better durability and performance compared to the original F4 1S 5A AIO FC. With a 1mm thick board, it is more durable than the 0.8mm board in the F4, making it more resistant to damage during daily use. However, for more advanced pilots, the Matrix 1S FC is slightly heavier compared to the Air 5IN1 version, which can provide a more racing-like experience.
Meteor75 Pro now powered by the improved Matrix 1S Brushless FC
Starting November 20, the Meteor75 Pro will be powered by the upgraded Matrix 1S Brushless FC. This upgrade introduces a rugged 1mm thick board, a high-speed G473 processor with a 55% increase in processing power, and an integrated 5.8GHz 400mW VTX video transmitter. Built-in motor connectors make installation easier, making it more beginner-friendly. These improvements provide better durability and performance, while ensuring that the Meteor75 Pro will excel in both FPV racing and freestyle flying, both indoors and outdoors.
Serial ELRS 2.4G RX
Serial ELRS 2.4G RX uses the Crossfire serial protocol (CRSF protocol) for communication between the receiver and the control board. Serial ELRS 2.4G RX is available for upgrade to ELRS V3.0 without flashing the Betaflight flight controller firmware. Enter bind mode by turning the power on/off three times.
- Insert and remove the flight controller three times;
- Make sure the RX LED flashes rapidly twice, indicating that the receiver is in bind mode;
- Make sure the RF TX module or radio transmitter enters bind mode, which sends a bind pulse;
- If the receiver shines a steady light, it is paired.
Serial ELRS 2.4G RX can be updated via Wi-Fi or via Betaflight serial pass-through. Here's how to update the Serial ELRS 2.4G RX firmware via serial pass-through.
- Connect your FC to your computer, connect to ExpressLRS Configurator instead of Betaflight Configurator;
- Select the target "BETAFPV 2.4GHz AIO RX."
- Flash using the Betaflight Passthrough option in ExpressLRS Configurator.
Betaflight firmware and CLI
The official Betaflight developers recommend using version 42688 of the gyro, and many issues with ICM42688 have been fixed in version 4.5.0. Please refer to version 4.5.0.
Bluejay ESC Software
Using the BB51 ESC solution, the Matrix 1S Brushless Flight Controller is based on A_X_5_96KHz_V0.19.hex for BB51 Bluejay hardware, supports D-shot300, D-shot600 and even Betaflight's RPM filtering, offers 24KHz, 48KHz and 96KHz PWM frequencies to choose from and custom launch tunes.
Don't flash the firmware with shorter intervals, or you may jam or burn the flight controller.
- ESC-Configurator: https://preview.esc-configurator.com/
- Download BLHeliSuite16714903
- Download Bluejay ESC Firmware. Select A_X_5_96KHz_V0.19.hex
How to use the serial ports, integrated RX and VTX
Please note that by default, UART2 is connected to VTX, and UART3 is connected to RX. To free up UART3, remove the resistor. In addition, this FC reserves 2 full serial ports that can be used for external CRSF/SBUS receivers, GPS, HD VTX or other serial devices. You can refer to the images below.
