Star Wars drone review
One of the dreams of Star Wars fans has come true-you can become a pilot and take part in battles with one of the ships from the Star Wars world! However, the manufacturer hopes that its drones will appeal to more than just those fascinated by the saga.
As of today, three models are available:
The manufacturer is unlikely to stop at just them.
In terms of design or materials used, it is really good. They were made of flexible material with great attention to detail. An interesting solution is to mount the motors from below. The propellers are transparent, which is a big visual plus for these drones, as they don't draw attention like colored ones would do. Unfortunately, the propeller covers are black. Batteries are in the form of a ship component, that is, they are personalized, not universal.
The whole set is a high-quality box, in a collector's version. It has an illuminated top on which the ship rests. When we lift the lid we can hear the background music from Star Wars. There are 5 different tunes to boot. In addition to the drone, we have two batteries, a charger and an adapter.
Star Wars drone flight simulator
Propel has prepared a simulator to master the controls without having to learn from mistakes ;) It is very simple. Connect the smartphone via Bluetooth to the controller to run the simulator. And you can practice! In addition, there is an option in which the drone flies in a virtual cage, ie. has imposed limits beyond which it will not fly. You can also adjust speeds - 30 km/h, 40 km/h, 50 km/h. Take off and land with the push of a button.
Another "tale" is the background music and sound effects used in the battle mode, these are, of course, battle sounds and iconic quotes that have been matched to what is happening on the front ;) You can opt out of this entourage if it distracts someone by disabling this feature.
Star Wars drone battles
What most distinguishes these drones from many others is the ability to wage battles. These are not screen-only battles, you can conduct them live with as many as 12 players! The controller connects to the drone by radio (2.4GHz), to the phone via Bluetooth; infrared and Light Fidelity are also used (something like WiFi). In case the user intends to use infrared during the duel, he should rather not have problems with hitting the opponent (4m range), while Li-Fi causes that we need to be very precise - this option will work for advanced players (10 cm x 10 cm). In the event that our attack on the enemy proves to be successful, the aircraft begins to descend, simulating a real fall. The manufacturer would like to see special tournaments eventually held.
This is a very bold and innovative idea. Most drones are used, either recreationally, or for their film and photography capabilities, or for racing. With Star Wars drones, a whole new group is emerging. We'll see in the near future whether the idea will catch on in Poland. Much depends on how Propel conducts the promotion of this product and how quickly it manages to organize tournaments. We're keeping our fingers crossed!
