Premiere of DJI Matrice 400 - the new standard for industrial drones

On 10.06.2025 premiered the drone DJI Matrice 400. New drone from DJI is the next level for Enterprise drones. Extended flight time, ability to use multiple cameras and devices, new obstacle detection technologies are just some of the improvements. In this blog post you will learn the most important information about this model.
Cargo flight up to 59 minutes
In missions such as searching for missing persons, inspecting power lines or mapping large areas, flight time is crucial. DJI The Matrice 400 offers up to 59 minutes of forward flight or 53 minutes of hovering, even with a mounted payload. This is one of the longest flight times in its class, which means fewer interruptions for battery changes and greater efficiency in field operations. The drone also reaches speeds of up to 90 kilometers per hour, which allows you to quickly reach your destination even in vast and hard-to-reach locations.
One platform - many applications
DJI The Matrice 400 offers a payload capacity of up to 6 kg, which allows integration of a wide range of sensors and devices. With three gimbals (single, dual, and an additional port on the bottom) and four E-Port V2 ports, up to seven different modules can be mounted simultaneously.
Depending on the task, you can equip the drone with:
- cameras in the series Zenmuse H30 (including a thermal imaging camera),
- scanner LiDAR L2,
- camera photogrammetric P1,
- spotlight S1 Spotlight,
- loudspeaker V1 Speaker,
- manifold 3 on-board computer,
- and third-party payloads compatible with DJI SDK.
Such configurability makes the Matrice 400 suitable for precision surveying in surveying as well as for emergency operations or crisis situations.
Safety even in extreme conditions
DJI Matrice 400 is designed to work in the field - regardless of the weather or time of day. Z iP55 rating, the device works reliably even in rain, dusty environments or high winds. The operating temperature range is -20°C to +50°C, making it a versatile tool all year round - from cold winter mornings to hot summer afternoons.
New level of obstacle detection
What sets the Matrice 400 apart is its integrated obstacle avoidance system, which combines:
- rotating LiDAR,
- precision millimeter wave radar (mmWave),
- and a low-light fisheye (color, light-sensitive) camera.
Thanks to this, the drone can detect not only buildings or trees, but also thin high-voltage wires - and even at night, in rain, fog or difficult mountainous terrain. This technology guarantees a much higher level of safety and precision than earlier models.
Precise positioning
With Aircraft Fusion Positioning, the Matrice 400 can stably maintain its position even near glass building facades, wind turbine blades, on the edge of a cliff or under a bridge - even when the return point has not been updated. This is an important feature when flying in environments with difficult geometry and poor GPS signal.
Smart features for greater efficiency
With Smart Detection and the H30 camera, the Matrice 400 can automatically detect vehicles, people, vessels, and identify objects from thermal and visible images. The Real-Time Terrain Follow function allows the drone to maintain a constant altitude relative to the ground, regardless of the terrain - both during manual flight and along a pre-programmed route.
It's not just convenience, but also greater mapping accuracy (constant GSD value) and better data quality in photogrammetric analysis and rescue operations.
Takeoff and landing from ships
In response to the growing needs of operators working on the water, DJI Matrice 400 offers take-off and landing functionality from the decks of vessels. The drone can recognize patterns on board and make a precise, safe landing, even when the craft is in motion. This is invaluable support for maritime patrols, offshore infrastructure inspections or SAR (Search and Rescue) operations.
Summary
From the operator's point of view, the novelties introduced in DJI Matrice 400 will certainly increase the efficiency of work and provide even greater stability.
Whether you're operating in the energy, construction, surveying or emergency response sectors, the Matrice 400 will help you get the job done faster, more accurately and more safely than ever before.
