FlyFishRC proudly presents a new model in the category of lightweight 5” freestyle drones weighing under 250g – FlyFishRC Tony!

Nowadays, with increasingly stringent drone weight restrictions, flying models larger than 3” has become a challenge. Yet, we all love flying the classic 5-incher, don't we? That's why we decided it was the perfect time to create an exceptionally light 5” frame, enabling the construction of a drone weighing less than 250g. This is how Tony was born.

Our goal was to create a lightweight yet durable frame that offers excellent flight characteristics. While this is not particularly challenging with standard 5” frames, achieving it in a sub-250g version required many compromises. Nonetheless, we gave it our all to create a frame you'll be eager to take on flights every day!

Lightweight, Compact, and Easy to Build

Tony is a simple and intuitive platform for assembly, fully compatible with the DJI O3 system. It features CNC aluminum plates that effectively protect the camera during crashes. It is also compatible with analog cameras, HDZERO and Walksnail HD video transmitters (check VTX dimensions for compatibility before purchase).

To keep the drone's weight as low as possible, we recommend using AIO flight controllers, although a 20x20 mini stack can also be used.

In our sub-250g test configurations, we used:

• 40A AIO FC,
• Caddx Vista Nebula Pro,
• FlyFishRC Flash 2004 motors,
• TBS Crossfire Nano,
• HQ bi-blade props,
• GNB HV 380mAh 6S battery,
• battery strap,

resulting in a total weight of 248.7g.

When using the DJI O3 system, the total weight increases to about 260g, as it is significantly heavier than the Vista. If keeping the weight under 250g is crucial for you, consider using the 4S version of the same battery or slightly modifying the O3 system to reduce weight.

Tony offers an incredible flight experience – it is agile, fast, but not overly "floaty" due to its low weight. This is a new quality in the category of ultra-lightweight 5” freestyle drones!
