Premiere of DJI Osmo 360 - new camera from DJI

In this article, we take a look at the new DJI Osmo 360 camera - both from the technical side and the practical side. We look at what exactly it offers, who it was designed for, its capabilities, and how it differs from classic sports cameras.
Construction of the DJI Osmo 360 camera
The camera weighs just 183 grams and features a robust, compact design. The housing meets the waterproof standard IP68, which means full dust resistance and the ability to be submerged up to 10 meters without additional housing. This is great news for those filming underwater, in the rain, or during dust and sand activities.
DJI Osmo 360 has also been made to work in low temperatures - works even at -20°C. In addition, the built-in mechanism to protect the battery from accidental opening increases safety when working on the move or in difficult field conditions.
With magnetic mounts and standard 1/4 thread" the camera works seamlessly with a wide range of accessories - both from the Osmo Action ecosystem and universal solutions available on the market.

Quality of photos and recordings DJI Osmo 360
This is the first camera DJI to enable native 8K/30FPS recording in 360 degrees. The new square format HDR sensor offers a tonal spread of 13.5 EV and quality comparable to 1-inch sensors, which translates into shots full of detail, contrast and natural tonal transitions - regardless of conditions.
For dynamic shots, a mode is available 4K/120FPS with a 170° field of view, as well as 5K/60FPS in single-lens mode. The camera captures spherical images at 120 MP, while the advanced SuperNight mode and f/1.9 aperture allow you to capture shots even in low light.
In addition, the Osmo 360 supports logarithmic mode (Digital Log Mode) so you can capture more and benefit from color and contrast processing during post-production.
Culture and uptime DJI Osmo 360
Osmo 360 is designed for long battery life. The camera allows up to 100 minutes of recording in 8K or as much as 190 minutes in 6K mode - without the need for frequent charging. Fast charging allows you to replenish 50% of the battery in just 12 minutes, which significantly facilitates work.
With long recording sessions in mind, DJI also offers a additional boom arm for DJI Osmo 360 with built-in rechargeable battery (sold separately), which extends the operating time to 180 minutes in 8K.

Operation of the Osmo 360 has been simplified as much as possible, kamera can be controlled:
- via voice commands,
- via gestures,
- by Apple Watch and Garmin watches,
- via SENA and VIMoto intercoms.
Function SnapShot allows you to start recording immediately - ideal for dynamic situations.
105 GB built-in memory provides space for high-definition recordings. In addition, the Osmo 360 supports microSD cards and high-speed file transfers - up to 90 MB/s over Wi-Fi 6.0 or up to 600 MB/s over the USB port 3.1.

360 camera vs classic sports camera
Traditional sports cameras, are great for dynamic, directional shots, but they only capture what is in front of the lens. 360° camera captures everything around you - every detail, regardless of the direction.
This is a huge advantage, especially in:
- travel footage - you can recreate the landscape exactly as you saw it,
- vlogging - the viewer has the impression of being "in the middle of events."
- extreme sports - you capture all the action, not just a piece of it,
- vR realizations or immersive content - for example, for educational, travel or event projects.
With its "invisible selfie stick" feature, the Osmo 360 creates the effect of a shot from the perspective of a drone or a third party - without additional processing. This is a significant time savings in post-production.
Boost Video and Single-lens modes allow you to quickly switch between recording styles, and editing modes - such as GyroFrame and auto-tracking in DJI Studio - make it easy to process footage.
Application examples DJI Osmo 360:
- Travel - Record every angle of the places you visit - not just what's in front of you. A great solution for assembling full stories from expeditions.
- Motovlogs and extreme sports - The camera records what is happening both in front of you and behind you - so you capture the full context of the situation.
- Lifestyle vlogs: The ability to edit the frame after recording means you don't have to frame "live" perfectly - just focus on the story.
- Nature and expedition documentation: SuperNight and HDR modes will work well in changing light - from dawn to dusk.
Summary
DJI Osmo 360 Adventure Combo is a state-of-the-art 8K spherical camera that combines impressive image quality, long battery life, intuitive operation and full compatibility with accessories. It will work well in many scenarios - from travel shots, to extreme sports, to advanced vlogs.
If you're looking for a tool to create engaging content from a whole new perspective - Osmo 360 is a solid choice.
