DJI Mini 5 Pro - FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What are the main improvements of DJI Mini 5 Pro compared to DJI Mini 4 Pro?
DJI Mini 5 Pro offers comprehensive improvements in camera system, vision system, flight performance and video transmission system. The main improvements are:
- Camera system: DJI The Mini 5 Pro features a 1-inch CMOS sensor and a new image processing platform, offering up to 14 degrees of dynamic range HDR video [1]. In addition, it introduces a 48mm Med-Tele mode (2x zoom) and uses portrait optimization technology DJI, allowing you to create exceptional portrait photos. [2]
- Flexible gimbal rotation: the gimbal offers 225° rotation in the roll axis and allows for manual control or via smart modes such as QuickShot Rotate, Timelapse, Spotlight and Waypoint Flight. This makes it easy to create dynamic rotating shots.
- Sensor system: DJI The Mini 5 Pro is equipped with a front LiDAR sensor that can detect obstacles in all directions in nighttime conditions at 1 lux illumination and supports the next-generation Smart RTH function. [3] It can proactively detect and avoid objects such as buildings along its flight and return path, providing greater safety when photographing cityscapes at night. It also remembers flight paths in well-lit conditions, enabling quick takeoffs and safe returns even without satellite signals.
- ActiveTrack: DJI Mini 5 Pro intelligently recognizes different sports scenarios and automatically selects Cycling or Standard mode for optimal framing and tracking. The performance of following objects has been improved to better balance speed, agility and safety.
- Flight performance [4]: Intelligent battery provides up to 36 minutes of flight, a maximum takeoff altitude of 6,000 m and a maximum forward speed of 18 m/s.
- Video transmission: the DJI O4+ system offers a 10-bit HDR video transmission range of up to 10 km [5], a more stable signal, greater immunity to interference and better image quality.
- Off-State QuickTransfer: DJI Mini 5 Pro has 42GB of internal memory, and supports remote wake-up via the DJI Fly app within Bluetooth range, enabling high-speed file transfers of up to 100 MB/sec. [6]
- Battery charging efficiency [7]: DJI 65W portable charger and bi-directional hub allow one smart battery to be fully charged in about 46 minutes. It takes a total of about 115 minutes to fully charge the three batteries.
Footnotes:
[1] 14 degrees of dynamic range can be achieved in Auto mode, but not in slow-motion mode or in 48mm Med-Tele mode.
[2] Available only in Normal mode - no support in HLG and D-Log M modes.
[3] Night omnidirectional obstacle detection requires clear textures and illumination above 1 lux, and flight path memorization requires clear textures and illumination above 10 lux. For details, see the product manual.
[4] Flight time and maximum forward speed were measured under laboratory conditions, and maximum takeoff altitude was measured in a high-altitude environment. For details, see the product manual.
[5] Measured in an open outdoor environment without interference and in accordance with CE. Data shows maximum communication range for one-way flights without return. When flying, always pay attention to the reminders on the app.
[6] Measured in a laboratory environment, with little interference, in countries/regions operating the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz bands. Download speeds may vary depending on actual conditions.
[7] Charging time was measured in a test environment at 25°C (77°F). Actual charging time may increase due to higher ambient temperature or differences in line voltage in different regions.
What level of certification does DJI Mini 5 Pro have in Europe?
DJI Mini 5 Pro has C0 certification from the European Union Agency for the Evaluation of Medicinal Products. Air Safety Authority (EASA). To request a grade change to C1, contact DJI support using the DJI Fly app.
Is DJI Mini 5 Pro waterproof?
Not. Avoid contact with water during use, as it may damage the device.
If it starts to rain while flying, return and land immediately, and wait until the drone is completely dry inside and outside before using it again.
What application needs to be installed before using DJI Mini 5 Pro?
DJI Mini 5 Pro can only be used with the DJI Fly app. The latest version of DJI Fly can be downloaded from the DJI Mini 5 Pro Downloads section of the official website DJI.
*For the DJI RC 2 control apparatus, the DJI Fly application is already pre-installed.
What to look out for in relation to the LiDAR front sensor?
- Dust and dirt can lead to false obstacle detection. Keep the front LiDAR sensor clean to ensure its accurate and correct operation.
- LiDAR sensor works automatically in moderately lit conditions, but will not function properly in strong light. Pay attention to lighting conditions to keep your flight safe.
What are the benefits of using a front-end LiDAR sensor?
- Improved obstacle detection at night: Even in extremely dark conditions, when ambient light drops below 1 lux and the vision system becomes ineffective, the front LiDAR sensor still enables detection of obstacles in front of the drone. This allows the device to detect obstacles and stop at the right moment during night flights.
- Safer RTH function at night: When returning to the takeoff point at night, if the vision system is ineffective, the drone can use the front LiDAR sensor to detect obstacles and hover to avoid them*, making return flight safer.
*If the drone reaches the height limit while hovering near obstacles, it will hover at that height.
How long does it take to fully charge the battery in DJI Mini 5 Pro?
- One battery charged directly in the drone using the DJI 65W Portable Charger - approx. 69 minutes.
- One battery charged in two-way hub with charger DJI 65W Portable Charger - ok. 46 minutes.
- Three batteries charged in a two-way hub with charger DJI 65W Portable Charger - ok. 115 minutes.
Times are given at 25°C. Depending on ambient temperature and grid voltage, actual charging time may vary.
How to enable HDR mode in DJI Mini 5 Pro?
When recording video with a frame rate of 60FPS or lower DJI Mini 5 Pro turns on HDR mode by default.
Does DJI RC 2 support fast charging?
Yes. USB-C port supports up to 9 volts/3 amps of power (using a 9 volt/3 amp charger).
How to customize button functions in DJI RC 2?
You can customize the functions of the C1/C2 buttons, right knob and other controls DJI RC 2 on the DJI Fly app to more conveniently control the device.
Does DJI RC 2 allow you to install third-party applications?
No, it is not possible to install applications on the controller DJI RC 2.
Does the maximum range of the O4+ video transmission system depend on the level of interference in the environment?
In different environments, the level of wireless interference is different, and the maximum transmission range will vary.
Unhindered:
- Strong interference: urban area, approx. 1.5-4 km
- Medium interference: suburban area, approx. 4-10 km
- Low interference: suburban/suburban areas, approx. 10-20 km
With obstacles:
- Low interference and building obstructions: ok. 0-0.7 km
- Low interference and tree obstructions: ok. 0.7-4.5 km
*Tested to FCC standard in environments with and without obstructions, with typical interference. Data is for illustrative purposes only and does not guarantee actual transmission distance.
How to update DJI Mini 5 Pro software?
When the drone is connected to the controller and a new software version is available, the DJI Fly app will display an update notification. Follow the instructions to update the software of the drone, controller, battery and other devices.
You can also perform the update using DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series) software on your computer. The latest version of the software is available at DJI Mini 5 Pro Downloads on the official website DJI.
What factors can cause the upgrade to fail?
1. Drone or controller battery level less than 20%.
2. Disabling a drone or controller during an update. If this happens, restart both devices and try again.
3. Interruption of network connection during software download.
4. Switching the smartphone interface to other apps during software downloads.
*During the update, the drone will restart several times, and when the update is complete, it will automatically shut down.
