What drone to buy as a gift for baby, boyfriend, daddy?

After frequent questions from our customers about drones, we decided to create this guide to help you choose the right drone. We have divided it by price categories. We will describe the drone's size, advantages, disadvantages and features. Our drones are branded products from well-known companies: Syma, Hubsan, Walkera, WLtoys, which produce drones that are durable and of good quality. Toy drones in flight last about 6-13 minutes, and charge from 30-70 minutes (depending on battery capacity), so it's a good idea to buy an extra battery for your drone.

At this price we get micro drones. These models are very small in size (they fit in the palm of your hand) and have no additional systems to facilitate flight. They fly for a short time, about 5-7 minutes, but charge quickly! Even in 20 minutes.

Hubsan Q4 H111 has a small controller, ideal for children's hands, although an adult will also have no problem with the controls.

  • advantages-modernistic design, functional box, good lighting
  • functions- barrels (acrobatics), 3 modes of flight speed.
  • disadvantages-when hitting a wall, propellers often fall out, which you then have to look for

Drone Syma X12S - has a large controller resembling the one from the xbox 360 console.

  • advantages - massive construction, durable
  • function - a diode on the front that allows you to track the front of the drone, barrels, 2 flight speed modes, headless mode (when you press the button, when the stick is set to the front the drone will fly towards the signal from the controller)
  • cons - detaching propellers

Syma X11 - range ok. 30m; endurance; small size; led lighting; aerobatics; flight time 6- 8 minutes

Drone Syma X20 - mini drone; rugged; 6-axis gyroscope; one-button takeoff and landing; LED lights; flight time approx. 5min; range up to 20m

Drone up to £300

The most popular and and most frequently purchased drones are precisely in this price range:

Hubsan X4 H107C and Syma X11C- palm-sized drones. Ideal for flying at home. Although it is not recommended to fly in small spaces, there is a risk of damaging the drone, well, but who wouldn't try, test your skills by flying under the table :) Shields on the propellers help negate damage.

Syma X9S flies and rides; 6-axis gyroscope; headless mode; drive, flight and aerobatic modes; range up to 100 m; no camera.

Syma's X5* series of mid-sized drones. Very durable. Our model continues to soar after two years and many falls!. Drones with 2Mpix camera, with a range of up to 50 meters. Video is saved to the included microSD card.

Syma X5C - 1 generation

Although it is the first generation, the model continues to sell well. Not much cheaper than the second generation. It is a proven model, so its price holds up. It is very durable, we personally own a model that is already two years old and m.in. fell into a tree, it rained on it (briefly, but still), it flew at many events and fairs as an attraction (it flew constantly, after removing the battery we immediately put a new one in and took to the air), it still works, and no motor was replaced. When something is proven then, why not buy it? This is probably what customers who buy this model are suggesting.

Syma X5SC - 2nd generation

It differs minimally in construction from its predecessor, it is slightly taller. It has a Headless mode-when the drone flies away from us and we do not know what direction it is turned, after activating this function, we do not need to know the orientation of the drone. The drone will respond to stick swings by orienting itself, thanks to a signal from the controller.

Syma X5HC - 3rd generation

Built the same as the X5SC however it differs in colors. In addition, it has a hover function. Drone rotating around its axis loses altitude. In this model, this problem does not occur, and flying is easier.

Syma X5UC - 6-axis gyroscope; headless mode; hover mode; 1mpx camera; photos and videos; autostart and auto-landing; range up to 70m

Drones with 0.3Mpix camera, range up to 50 meters (live view up to 30m). Video saves automatically to smartphone.

The following models, unlike the X5SC and X5HC versions, have FPV (live view) function. The lower resolution of the camera results in faster data transfer, which means that the transmitted image does not stutter. Included is a controller mount that allows you to mount a smartphone. The image is sent to a tablet or smartphone after installing an app that works on iOS and Android.

Syma X5SW - 2nd generation

Syma X5HW - 3rd generation

Small palm-sized drones, not to be confused with the microdrones described above!

Syma X11C - smaller drone, 2mpx camera, range up to 30 meters. It is a small drone, however, it is controlled very pleasantly and stably. It has a 2 mpx camera! Which in such a small drone at such a price is quite an achievement

JJRC H31 cam - waterproof; rugged; headless mode; 2mpx camera; 4gb sd card; range up to 100m; aerobatics

Of course, all of the above drones also come in a version without a camera: Syma X5S and Hubsan 107L or a renewed quieter version Hubsan 107P i JJRC H31

Syma generation X8* are large drones, construction resembling the well-known DJI Phantoms. They have powerful engines that can handle the wind better than smaller drones.

Syma X8HC is a revamped version of the Symy X8C, in addition to the earlier model has an additional vertical hover function. Drone rotating on its axis gains or loses altitude. This drone will counteract that.

Syma X8W drone with 0.3 Mpix camera, range up to 50 meters (live view up to 30 meters). The video automatically saves to the smartphone (the smaller size of the camera results in faster data transfer, so that the transmitted video does not stutter). Included is a controller mount that allows you to mount a smartphone. The image is sent to the tablet, or smartphone, after installing the application. Features Headless mode.

Syma X8HW is the 2nd generation of the Symy X8W drone, heavily upgraded. It has a 1mpx camera, and an extended range of up to 70m (live view up to 50m) Large drone with a Phantom-like design. This drone will counteract that.

WLToys V686K It has a very long range, up to 150 meters, but this model transmits the image via Wi-Fi, so the real range especially in the city where there is a lot of interference is probably 100 meters, which is still quite a result. The image is sent to a tablet or smartphone, after installing the appropriate application. 0.3 mpx camera. We can also control the drone exclusively with a smartphone! Features Headless mode

Hubsan X4 107CHD. 2 Mpix camera, range up to 50 meters. It has motors that translate directly to propellers. He is fast and massively built. A cheaper model with a 0.3 Mpix camera is also available Hubsan H107C.

Hubsan H107C+ Second series model having a completely new design. The range has been improved - 100 meters, and a vertical hover function has been added. When rotating around its axis, the drone does not lose altitude or climb. The disadvantage in the drone is the inability to mount a propeller guard, so we recommend this model to people who have already had experience with drones.

Drones up to £1000

Syma X8SW range up to 70m; autostart and auto-landing; hover function; LED lights; flight time approx. 9min; headless mode

WL Toys V686G it has its own 5-inch screen, so there is no need for a smartphone or downloading any apps for live viewing. It has a 2mpx camera, and transmits images via radio. In case of WiFI network interference, there will be no problem with image transmission.

H107D is a Hubsan brand drone with live video capability up to 100 meters . The screen is built into the controller. The drone has a 1mpx camera. Motors directly return power to the propeller (no gears). Live view makes flying even more fun. Very agile and fast.

An improved version, that is Hubsan 107D+. It has a 2mpx camera and a hover function, making the flight of this drone even more accurate. Range 100m. No possibility of installing propeller guards.

Syma X8G. It has a range, up to 100 meters, and a 5 mpx camera. No live view capability. The bracket into which the camera is inserted also fits under GoPRO.

Yuneec Typhoon Q500 4K + Handheld Gimbal - The drone from Yunnec, has the ability to remove the camera, and the manufacturer throws into the kit a hand-held ground gimbal, so the camera can also serve us for normal use. In addition, the gimbal makes the footage you shoot smooth and without unnecessary shaking. This is a very big advantage of this set.

As for the drone itself, it has a range of 500m. It has a built-in screen in the controller, so we do not need any tablet or smartphone to operate it. However, in our opinion, for those who have never flown a drone, it is a bit heavier to operate. The person who wants to fly it will have to spend more time with the instruction manual. By paying a few hundred zloty extra, we can get an attractive set (next on the list - "drones up to 4000 zloty"
