The DJI Matrice 4 Obstacle Sensing Module is a smart upgrade for pilots who want more confidence when flying in complex environments. By combining rotating LiDAR with five-direction millimeter-wave radar, this advanced detection system helps the drone identify obstacles more effectively, even in low-light conditions. It is especially useful for demanding flights around dense infrastructure, power distribution networks, and tight transformer station areas where precision and safety matter most.

Thanks to the combination of LiDAR and radar technology, the module can detect objects of different shapes and materials with impressive accuracy. It performs particularly well in places where traditional sensors may struggle, such as dark environments, infrastructure-heavy areas, or locations with limited GNSS availability. Keep in mind that performance may still be affected by environmental conditions like rain, fog, heavy dust, as well as by the shape or movement of certain objects, including birds or moving cranes.

The module should be installed only when the drone is powered off. For a secure fit, carefully tighten the rear screws and use the included hex tools during installation. Once mounted, make sure to update the software on all connected devices and follow the instructions shown in the app. Before each flight, it is a good idea to check whether the module is working properly, ideally in good weather conditions and with a strong GNSS signal.

The sensor contains precision components that may be damaged by drops or strong impacts, so careful handling is recommended. When the module is not in use, it should be stored with its protective cover attached. In some countries, radar-related restrictions may apply, so it is worth checking local regulations or contacting an authorized DJI distributor before use in those regions.
