DJI ROMO 2 Launch – A2 or P2: Which Robot Should You Choose?

DJI ROMO 2 This is the second generation of DJI cleaning robots, in which the manufacturer is heavily building on what it is known for in the drone industry: environmental recognition, motion planning, and automation. Options include, among others, DJI ROMO A2, DJI ROMO P2, and DJI ROMO P2 Clean More Combo.
The most important thing, however, is something else. You don't have to buy the more expensive option to get better basic cleaning. DJI ROMO A2 and P2 have the same declared suction power of up to 36,000 Pa, 5,000 mAh battery, up to approximately 3 hours of runtime, obstacle detection system based, among other things, on 3D ToF LiDAR, two fisheye cameras, and an additional LiDAR sensor in a movable arm. Both are also capable of clearing two-step obstacles with a total height of up to 8.5 cm. You'll find the biggest differences primarily in the base station and the set's accessories.
So if you're wondering which ROMO 2 DJI to choose, don't just look at the model name. First, ask yourself, what your cleaning space looks like, what usually ends up on the floor, and how much of the robot’s operation you want to handle yourself.
Design and Workmanship
The first thing that catches your eye is the transparent design characteristic of the ROMO series. DJI ROMO A2, and P2 have a casing that reveals part of their internal structure devices. The difference becomes apparent at the station. DJI ROMO A2 receives a white base station.DJI The ROMO P2 has a transparent station, which makes the entire set look more cohesive and decidedly more high-tech.
The robot itself measures 351 × 351 × 98 mm and weighs 4.9 kg. The station measures 425 × 453 × 440 mm and weighs 10 kg. And here it’s worth mentioning something that’s easy to overlook in flashy product photos: it’s quite a large set. The station needs its own space. If you plan to install the robot in a cabinet, be sure to check the available dimensions before purchasing. In a small room, a difference of a dozen or so centimeters can matter more than yet another feature in an app.
On the other hand, the ROMO 2's design doesn't look like a device the manufacturer wanted to hide at all costs. The Transparent P2 is particularly well-suited for modern, minimalist, or high-tech interiors. In our opinion, however, design should be a complement to a decision, not the basis for it. The robot is designed, first and foremost, to clean efficiently.
Features and Capabilities of the ROMO 2 DJI
36,000 Pa—that's a lot of power, but what matters more is how the robot uses it. A high number alone does not guarantee a clean floor. What's much more interesting is that ROMO 2 It can adjust its mode of operation depending on what it detects in front of it.
Example?
If the device detects particles that scatter easily, such as cat litter, it may slow down, reduce the side brush speed, and increase suction power. The point is to pick up the mess instead of dramatically spreading it all over half the kitchen. If there is a lot of dust, the robot can vacuum the surface first and then mop it..
It looks even more interesting how spilled liquids are handled. ROMO 2 can skip the wet area while vacuuming, finish the rest of the floor, and then return to the stain to clean it. After completing this task, the robot returns to the station to clean its pads before continuing its work. Here, the use of AI starts to make more sense than simply adding the word “intelligent” to a product’s name.
DJI has experience in the autonomous movement of devices and the analysis of space. In the case of the ROMO 2, the manufacturer is trying to apply this knowledge on the ground rather than in the air.
The adaptive arm reaches places where a regular robot leaves dirt behind
One of the most interesting features of the ROMO 2 " DJI " series is an adaptive arm with its own LiDAR. The arm moves within a range of 123°. Compared to the previous generation, it can reach up to 7.8 cm farther and allows for mopping 4.5 cm deeper under wall-mounted furniture.
What does this mean in a typical apartment?? The robot can handle the controller better:
along the wall,
under the cabinets,
at the corners,
around the legs of the table and chairs,
in places that a round housing would normally prevent access to.
Retractable cleaning elements are now also appearing in devices from other manufacturers, so this isn't an entirely uncommon solution. However, it remains one of the technologies that truly solves the problem of traditional round robots— cleaning right up to the edge.
Rugs? The robot is changing the way we work
DJI ROMO 2 does not use all of its cleaning elements at all times. Once it detects a carpet, it can lift the mop pads, to keep the carpet from getting wet. While mopping, however, it can lift the brushes, thereby limiting the transfer of previously collected dirt onto the cleaned surface.
When vacuuming a carpet, the lower pressure plate helps create a partial seal against the floor. This allows the robot to make more effective use of the available 36,000 Pa for removing dust from fibers. The device can also lift the rear part of the cover when rolling off the carpet to prevent it from curling up.
These are small things, but it's details like these that matter in everyday use of the robot.
DualSweep Design reduces hair buildup
If you have long hair or a pet, you’re probably familiar with the second step of “automatic” cleaning: removing the hair that’s gotten tangled in the brush. DJI uses the DualSweep Design. The side brushes work in conjunction with the main brush, and the wide angle 120° is designed to prevent hair from getting tangled. Hair and fibers are directed toward the center and then sucked up by the main brush.
In addition, the side brushes have a wider range than the pads' working path. So the robot first picks up dry debris, and only then does the mopping unit follow behind it. This reduces the risk of smearing crumbs or hair with a wet pad.
DJI ROMO 2 can detect wires as small as 2 mm in diameter
The obstacle detection system uses:
3D ToF LiDAR,
two fisheye cameras,
an additional LiDAR sensor in the arm,
upper collision sensor.
According to the manufacturer, the redesigned perception system of the ROMO 2 series is capable of recognizing wires with a diameter of 2 mm or more. If you've ever pulled your phone charger out of a robot vacuum, you know why this matters. The robot also analyzes objects it has encountered previously and can use the information it has gathered to respond more effectively to future obstacles.
This is especially important in a home that doesn't look the same every day. The chair changes position. A toy appears on the floor. The cable falls off the desk. The cat decides that the best place to sit is in the middle of the hallway The robot has to handle this on its own, without your constant help.
The front light helps with cleaning in darker areas
DJI ROMO 2 also got its own lighting. The light can illuminate a surface with an area of up to 2,000 cm², which allows the camera system to better detect dust and obstacles in dimly lit areas. The manufacturer also states that the device can detect transparent, stationary obstacles taller than 6 cm, such as glass furnishings.
This is a feature that may be more important than the specifications suggest. Under a bed or a cabinet, the robot doesn't always have the same lighting conditions as in the middle of the living room.
Bathroom threshold? ROMO 2 Can Get Back Up
The robotic legs allow the DJI ROMO A2 and P2 to navigate individual obstacles up to 4 cm high. The manufacturer also states that the vehicle can navigate two-step obstacles with a total height of up to 8.5 cm. It's important to fully understand this value. This does not mean that the robot will simply jump over a single vertical threshold 8.5 cm high.
Base station – here DJI: The ROMO P2 has the biggest advantage over the A2
An automatic robot is truly automatic only when you don't have to do half the work for it after it's finished cleaning. That is why the station is one of the most important parts of the entire system. ROMO 2 stations have a tank that holds 4 liters of clean water,3.2 liters of dirty water and a 2.4-liter dust bag.
The nanocrystalline surface of the cleaning pad reduces dirt buildup. Four high-pressure water jets wash away contaminants, which are then drawn into a suction opening with a diameter of 16 mm. The manufacturer states that the cleaning pad can therefore operate up to 365 days without requiring maintenance.
Important: This does not mean “a year without touching the robot.”. We still have consumables, tanks, a bag, filters, and brushes. The 365-day warranty specifically applies to the washing plate.
Station:
automatically dispenses cleaning solution,
washes the pads at temperatures up to 80°C,
dries them at a temperature of 60°C,
dries the dust container after collecting wet debris.
And this is exactly where DJI ROMO P2 exits the A2.
P2 also supports:
floor deodorizer,
disinfecting the dust bag with UV light.
If you have a pet at home, often have to clean up wet messes, or want to minimize odors as much as possible, these are all reasons that might justify choosing P2.
Performance in Everyday Use
Up to 3 hours of use and a 5,000 mAh battery
DJI The ROMO 2 uses a battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh and 72 Wh. The estimated runtime is up to about 3 hours.
However, you need to read the measurement conditions. This result was obtained at a temperature of 25°C while vacuuming in Quiet mode, with the battery level ranging from 100% to 12%.. At maximum suction power, with frequent mopping, when going over thresholds, or when making a large number of maneuvers, the result will be different.
The good news is that when it runs out of power, the robot can return to the station on its own, recharge its battery, and then continue the task it had started. This is especially important in a larger home. Not every robot cleans the entire surface in a single cycle.
55 W charging – approximately 2.5 hours from 0 to 100%
The charging power is 55 W. According to the manufacturer's data, charging the battery from 0 to 100% takes about 2.5 hours. The measurement was taken at a temperature of 25°C with the robot placed in the station and the drying function turned off.
A quick return to work is more practical than breaking uptime records at any cost. For large areas, the robot can complete part of the task, quickly recharge, and finish cleaning on the same day.
Quiet mopping starting at 38 dBA
DJI It has also worked hard to improve the work culture. The manufacturer uses sound-dampening materials, multi-layered insulation, and special noise-reducing chambers. According to the manufacturer, the entire system can reduce noise levels by as much as 85% compared to the previous generation.
In quiet mopping mode, the noise level can be as low as 38 dBA. This isn't a parameter for the table just for the sake of the table. If you're working from home, a robot moving behind the wall shouldn't drown out your conversation. Similarly, in the evening or at night—quieter operation gives you more flexibility in setting your schedule.
Of course, vacuuming at maximum power and automatic bin emptying will still be noticeably louder than quiet mopping.
DJI Home, dirt map, and a live view of the house via camera
You control the robot using the app DJI Home. One of the new features is a dirt map that shows areas where dirt tends to accumulate more frequently. The developer has also announced a future update that will allow for more advanced map editing, including the ability to mark and move furniture.
This is an important distinction: the map editing feature is scheduled for a future update, so we wouldn't treat it as a selling point that works from day one. Some users will find the Remote Video Call.
With the robot's camera, you can:
check what's going on at home,
to see my pet,
talk with the family.
The first time you access the camera, two-factor authentication is required. The transmission is protected, and the feature itself can be turned off completely. For pet owners, this may be one of those accessories they didn't plan to use when they bought it, but end up using regularly.

Cons
The station measures 425 × 453 × 440 mm and weighs 10 kg, so it takes up quite a bit of space.
Some of the most advanced features may be unnecessary in a simple, small apartment.
The advanced map editing feature is not expected to be available until a future update.
The “365 days maintenance-free” claim applies to the cleaning pad, not the entire robot.
The camera is useful, but people who are particularly concerned about privacy may prefer to turn it off completely.
The P2 doesn't offer more suction power than the A2—the extra cost is mainly justified by the charging station and additional hygiene features.
Price and Cost-Effectiveness of the Purchase
The press materials on which this article is based do not include confirmed Polish prices for the DJI, ROMO A2, P2, and P2 Clean More Combo. So we won't be entering amounts at random.
However, we can already answer the more important question: what’s actually worth paying extra for?
If what matters most to you is effective vacuuming, mopping, AI, obstacle avoidance, an adaptive arm, and the ability to navigate thresholds, DJI the ROMO A2 offers the most important features of the ROMO 2 series.
P2 does not increase the suction force from 36,000 to 40,000 or 50,000 Pa. You also don't get a bigger battery.
You're paying extra mainly for:
a transparent station,
use of a deodorizer,
disinfecting the dust bag with UV light.
That's why P2 is a better choice for homes with pets, for frequent cleaning, and wherever hygiene and odor control are especially important to you.
We should look at the DJI ROMO P2 Clean More Combo.
You won't find a better robot there. You're buying the P2 along with a supply of consumables.
Before making a decision, it’s a good idea to compare the price difference between the P2 and the P2 Clean More Combo with the cost of the brushes, pads, filters, and bags sold separately..
If you're going to need them anyway, a larger set might be a better choice.
Key Differences – DJI ROMO A2 vs DJI ROMO P2 vs P2 Clean More Combo
In terms of key cleaning functions DJI the ROMO A2 and the ROMO P2 DJI are very similar. Both offer 36,000 Pa of suction power, an adaptive arm, advanced obstacle detection, intelligent cleaning adjustments based on the type of dirt, and an automatic docking station.
However, P2 goes a step further when it comes to the hygiene of its stations and equipment.

The most important conclusion? Don't pay extra for the ROMO P2 DJI just because it has more suction power—you don't actually get it.. The robot's basic capabilities are very similar. P2 is most useful when you take advantage of the station's additional features.
Variant DJI ROMO P2 Clean More Combo This, in turn, is the same P2 robot with a larger supply of consumable parts.
The set also includes:
a pair of rubber brushes,
a pair of ROMO 2 side brushes,
four pairs of mop pad covers,
two high-performance filters,
two dust bags for the base station.
If you plan to use the robot frequently, have pets, or simply don't want to have to buy replacement parts one by one after a few months, this kit might make more sense than the basic P2 model.
Which ROMO 2 model should I choose DJI??
DJI ROMO A2 – for most people looking for the key features of the ROMO 2
We would choose A2 if:
Above all, you want an effective robot vacuum and mop,
Do you want 36,000 Pa,
You have carpets and hard floors,
there are cords and toys lying around the house, or other small obstacles appear,
you have thresholds between rooms,
You don't need to disinfect the bag with UV light,
You don't care about a transparent station.
In our opinion, the most sensible starting point for the ROMO 2 “ DJI ” series, because you don't have to give up key cleaning features.
DJI ROMO P2 – for pet owners and anyone looking for a more feature-rich station
P2 makes more sense if:
you have a dog or a cat,
If you want to minimize odors,
Do you want to use a floor deodorizer,
you appreciate the added benefit of UV disinfection of the bag,
The robot will be in use frequently,
For you, the transparent station is part of what makes this set so appealing.
We wouldn't buy the P2 just because it's a higher-end model. The basic cleaning performance of the A2 and P2 is very similar.
DJI ROMO P2 Clean More Combo – for heavy-duty use
Choose the Clean More Combo if you want the P2 and know that the robot will be used regularly.
Extra pads, brushes, filters, and bags mean you have a supply of the most important consumables right from the start.
This is especially convenient for:
animals,
a large house,
daily cleaning,
more hair and dirt,
frequent mopping.
DJI ROMO 2 – THE MEGA VERDICT
DJI ROMO 2 doesn't try to win solely by using a huge number of Pa. The most interesting thing is what the robot does with information about its surroundings.
It identifies the type of dirt. It can adjust the power and operation of the brushes. He sees very thin wires. It extends the arm to the edge. It illuminates a dark space. He picks up the mats from the floor. It can climb high curbs and returns to the charging station on its own when it needs to recharge or have its brushes cleaned.
It is these features that will determine whether the robot will actually operate more independently in your home.
What would we choose??
For most people, we would start with DJI ROMO A2. It has the same basic cleaning system, 36,000 Pa, the same battery, and the key ROMO 2 technologies.
DJI ROMO P2 We would choose it if we actually used the station's advanced features: floor deodorization and UV treatment for the dust bag. It's especially worth considering if you have pets or do a lot of cleaning.
DJI ROMO P2 Clean More Combo However, it makes the most sense for someone who already knows the robot will be used extensively and wants to have a supply of pads, brushes, filters, and dust bags right from the start.
So don't choose a model based on its name or just because it's at the top of the table. Choose features that will actually take the burden off your shoulders.
