BetaFPV Camera + Insta360 SMO 4K

BetaFPV + Insta360 SMO 4K Camera
The BetaFPV + Insta360 SMO 4K is an ultra-light action camera built specifically for FPV drones. Powered by Insta360 technology and engineered by BETAFPV, it delivers crisp 4K footage, wide-angle shots, and impressively smooth stabilization in a super lightweight body. At just 30g in the standard version, it helps FPV pilots fly faster, stay in the air longer, and pull off more advanced maneuvers without loading the drone down.
If you want cinematic FPV footage without adding the bulk of a traditional action cam, the SMO 4K is one of the best upgrades you can strap to your quad. It’s a perfect match for cinewhoops, long-range FPV drones, and fixed-wing builds, especially setups where every gram matters.
Recommended pairing: To get the best experience, we highly recommend using the SMO 4K with the Beta95X V3 Pusher Whoop Quadcopter or the Beta95X V3 HD Digital VTX version.
Important: Please do not update to the official Insta360 firmware version v1.3.8 released on November 22, 2021. This firmware is not compatible with the SMO 4K camera and may cause the camera to stop working. Downgrading is not possible. If you have any questions, please contact support at support@betafpv.com.

Built for All Kinds of FPV Drones
The SMO 4K was designed from the ground up for drone mounting. Its lightweight form factor makes it an ideal choice for pilots who want high-quality onboard video without sacrificing agility. It can be mounted on cinewhoops like the Beta95X V3, 3–4 inch ducted drones, 4–5 inch long-range FPV builds, and even fixed-wing platforms.
For the easiest setup, the Beta95X V3 Pusher Whoop Quadcopter is highly recommended thanks to its dedicated SMO 4K mount. Its inverted pusher-style frame also helps keep the center of gravity low, making the drone easier to handle in flight.

FPV Stabilization That Looks Smooth and Clean
The SMO 4K supports Insta360’s patented FlowState stabilization algorithm for incredibly smooth footage. BETAFPV also added an FPV-optimized processing profile to help make flight footage look cleaner, sharper, and more stable. Whether you’re cruising low, diving structures, or flowing through tight gaps, your footage keeps that polished cinematic feel.

Wide 4K Video with Great Detail
With the SMO 4K, pilots can record wide-angle 4K video packed with detail, smooth motion, and strong dynamic range. It also supports an ultra-wide FOV option in Insta360 Studio that helps reduce distortion in your footage. Combined with a 100Mbps bitrate and H.265 encoding, the result is clean, sharp video that looks great straight out of your FPV sessions.

No Jello Effect
The included ND16 filter helps reduce image vibration and the jello effect during aggressive or high-speed flying. It also adds an extra layer of lens protection in the event of a crash. For indoor flying or lower-light conditions such as dusk, the included UV filter is the better choice to protect the lens without overly reducing light. Both filters come in the box.

Power and Remote Control
The camera supports a wide 6V to 27V input range, making it compatible with 2S to 6S FPV LiPo batteries. Just plug it in and you’re ready to go. Pilots can connect the SMO 4K directly to the flight controller for power and recording control, including remote start and stop recording during flight. That means less hassle on the ground and more focus in the air.

LED Status Guide
Please note that the LED behavior on the SMO 4K may differ from what is shown in the user manual. See the status guide below for the correct LED indications.
- If the SMO 4K incorrectly detects that it is not powered by a battery, the LED will show blue.
- If the SMO 4K incorrectly detects that it is powered by a battery, the LED will show red.
Neither of these situations affects the camera’s actual performance.
| LED | Status | Description |
| Blue Light | Blinking | SD card error |
| Blue Light | Solid | Power is on, SD card is working properly, battery signal detected |
| Red Light | Blinking | Recording |
| Red Light | Solid | Battery signal detected |
FAQ
