ORICO PWDM2-G2-BK-EP disk housing
ORICO PWDM2-G2-BK-EP disk housing
- USB 3.2 Gen 2 10 Gbps standard
- USB-C port
- It supports both NVMe/PCIe and M.2 SATA/AHCI drives
- Supports drives with an M or B+M key
Size doesn't matter
M.2 drives are much smaller than their 2.5-inch counterparts - they are 22 mm wide and various lengths: from 30 to 80 mm. You can fit a disk of any length in the housing thanks to the holes on the plate for mounting a rubber stabilizer.
M.2 SATA drives
The M.2 drive with SATA (AHCI) interface placed in the housing will operate with the maximum data transfer rate of 6 Gbps for this type of drives. The case supports the USB 3.1 Gen 2 standard, so you won't experience any lags. This model can be equipped with M.2 SATA drives with an M+B key (two gaps between the connector pins).
NVMe drives
Newer drives based on the NVMe protocol (PCIe bus) are much faster - depending on the PCIe version. The maximum data transfer rate between a computer and such a drive mounted in the Orico Bridge will be 10 Gbps. The housing interface is compatible with NVMe drives with M and B+M keys.
Fast USB-C
The M.2 case has a fast 10 Gbps USB-C port and a matching 15 cm cable included. Using this cable, you can connect it to a laptop or computer with a USB-C port, as well as a tablet or smartphone. If you want to connect to a computer with an older USB-A port, just use the appropriate adapter.
Express installation
The M.2 drive is installed without using additional tools - just unlock the cover at the bottom of the case, slide out the tray and place the drive in the port. The rubber pins that are included in the kit are used to stabilize the disk inside the housing. A silicone thermal pad and a metal heat sink are placed on the drive, which help dissipate heat from very hot NVMe drives.
Small black
Most disk bays are made of high-quality aluminum painted in an elegant black color. The part that covers the PCB and chipset is made of solid, scratch-resistant PVC. The dimensions of the case are only 3.5 by 12.5 cm, so you can fit it in your pocket or laptop backpack.
TRIM and UASP
The chipset supports the TRIM (ATA Data Set Management Command) technology solution and the UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) protocol:
- TRIM tells SSDs which blocks of data are unused, allowing them to be repopulated with new data.
- UASP USB device queues commands by executing several commands at the same time.
