november 25, 2025 DJI launched the next generation of its flagship sports camera - the DJI Osmo Action 6. It is a model that focuses on practical improvements, better video quality and interesting applications, which were not available in sports cameras before DJI.

Predecessor, Osmo Action 5 Pro, is a piece of equipment that has already gained huge popularity thanks to its great stabilization, large 1/1.3" sensor, 4K/120 FPS quality and HorizonSteady 360° technology. It's still a very strong model. Nonetheless, DJI has managed to improve a number of areas of practical importance in Action 6.

Is it worth switching to a new model? Or maybe the 5 Pro is still good enough? In this comparison, we'll look at what has changed and who is most likely to choose Action 6.

Camera construction DJI Action 6 vs DJI Action 5 Pro

Both DJI Action 5 Pro and DJI Action 6 have a very similar design. Both cameras have the same two OLED touchscreen displays, which have good brightness. The cameras use the same 1950 mAh batteries and last up to 4h on the battery. At this point, it is worth noting that the the battery and charging flaps are more thoughtfully designed in the new camera and have a side-opening safety device, making it difficult to open accidentally.

Action 6 is slightly larger and heavier than its predecessor, its weight is 149 g, and the dimensions are 72.8×47.2×33.1 mm (D×S×W). Compared to the 146 g and 70.5 x 44.2 x 32.8 mm (L x S x W) of the DJI Action 5 Pro. Both cameras have 64GB of built-in memory (of which ~50GB is available for use) and support 1TB memory cards.

In terms of audio both models use a triple set of microphones, which records surround stereo sound. Added to this is more effective suppression of ambient noise and more natural sounding recorded material.

The most important difference of Action 6 - aperture and matrix

Najważniejsza różnica Action 6 w stosunku do Action 5 Pro - przysłona oraz matryca

DJI made an obvious leap forward. The new camera is equipped with a variable aperture (f/2.0-f/4.0), which allows for much better results in more difficult lighting conditions. Automatic adjustment allows for smart management - the f/2.0 aperture works great in low light, while when it's, too bright it changes to f/4.0. It also has a larger 1/1.1″ sensor, which collects more light, resulting in better image quality with less noise.

It is worth mentioning that these changes make the camera a more advanced tool. However, it's still a sports camera so the previous model DJI Action 5 Pro with f/2.8 aperture and 1/1.3 sensor does very well in most cases.

Important note on Osmo Action 6 camera accessories

Ważna uwaga dotycząca akcesoriów kamery Osmo Action 6

Since DJI Action 6 has different sizes, accessories such as dive housings, housings to protect the camera, filters, etc. are not compatible with each other. In addition, the magnetic mount located at the bottom of the camera now can be mounted from any side, which translates into much faster camera translation even when recording. Previously, the mount had to be removed and the camera repositioned to make this possible.
