What are the advantages of native 8K/30FPS panoramic videos recorded with DJI Osmo 360?

DJI Osmo 360 uses a newly designed square CMOS sensor with an optimized layout that increases the number of vertical pixels from 3000 (in traditional rectangular sensors) to 4000. This makes it possible to natively record 8K (4K+4K) panoramic videos using two lenses. Large 2.4 μm pixels provide higher light sensitivity and up to 13.5 degrees of dynamic range, and the f/1.9 aperture guarantees flagship-level quality for sports cameras in both high-contrast and low-light scenes.

How to protect your lens DJI Osmo 360?

The surfaces of the two fisheye lenses on the DJI Osmo 360 have been coated with multilayer coatings and hardened to improve image quality and increase scratch and abrasion resistance, protecting against minor impacts during daily use. However, since lenses are precise and delicate components, we recommend handling the camera with care.

When storing, use a rubber cover or protective case to prevent scratching by keys, sand, etc. Before use, check the inside of the rubber cover or case for foreign objects that could damage the lens surface.
Before recording, remove the cover or case and clean the lens surface of fingerprints, greasy stains and other dirt that may affect the image quality.
In harsher environments where lenses may be subjected to impacts, it is recommended to use transparent lens covers for DJI Osmo 360 to provide additional protection.

How DJI Osmo 360 makes selfie stick invisible? What to look out for when using this feature?

DJI The Osmo 360 has two fisheye lenses, each of which captures images with a viewing angle of more than 180°. During recording, the camera combines images from both lenses using algorithms and uses the overlap area to "remove" the selfie stick underneath it. As a result, the accessory does not appear in photos or videos, creating an "Invisible Selfie Stick" effect".

For best results, it is recommended to use the official Invisible Selfie Stick DJI.* When mounting, make sure the camera and selfie stick are aligned to guarantee the correct operation of the algorithm.

If you use an adjustable adapter with a quick-mount system to angle the camera to the selfie stick (or use other mounting methods that make the camera and selfie stick misaligned), or if the connection point between the selfie stick and the camera is noticeably offset from the front-to-back plane of the device, this function may not work properly.

*Invisible Selfie Stick is available for sale separately.

What is the safe connection distance for DJI Osmo 360?

To get the best panoramic blending effect, it is recommended to keep at least 0.75 m distance between DJI Osmo 360 and the filmed object. If the distance is too short, the images from the left and right lenses may differ significantly, leading to unnatural blending and distortion. If a safe minimum distance is maintained, the camera automatically creates a smooth and natural effect.

Why DJI Osmo 360 heats up during use?

When using high-resolution and high-performance modes (e.g., 8K/30FPS), the camera consumes more power, which can lead to a noticeable increase in temperature. Intense recording sessions or holding the device in your hand for long periods of time can also cause it to heat up.

How to reduce camera overheating?

You can try the following methods:

  • Adjust recording settings: choose a lower resolution and frame rate (e.g., 4K/30FPS or 6K/30FPS) to reduce power consumption and heat buildup.
  • Optimize the camera settings: turn off the screen during recording, as well as the Wi-Fi function if you don't need it.
