Antigravity A1 launch - meet the first 360° drone

2025 is the year when DJI and Insta360 go head to head, presenting solutions based on 360 video recording°. While DJI is developing the Osmo 360 line as a response to the X series, Insta360 is entering the drone market with a bump, introducing the Antigravity A1 - a drone equipped with 2 full-fledged 360° cameras. In this article, we take a closer look at it and describe its capabilities.

Construction of the Antigravity A1 drone

Insta360 already has experience in combining drones with spherical cameras - it previously offered the Insta360 Sphere, a dedicated kit mounted on the DJI Air 2S, with lenses arranged similarly to those on the A1. This time, however, the manufacturer went a step further: instead of adapting an existing drone, it created one from scratch with 360° recording in mind.

Antigravity A1 weighs less than 250 grams and with a standard battery is in the C0 class, which means you can fly it without a license. The drone's frame is created to capture the full sphere - the the lenses are placed on the top and bottom of the drone, and the sensors are located so that they do not enter the frame and at the same time provided effective detection of obstacles. Thanks to this, the structure not only "hides" on the recordings.

In addition, the design of the A1 includes automatically retractable and retractable chassis and interchangeable lenses, which increases the convenience of use and reduces the time of possible repairs.

Quality of photos and recordings Antigravity A1

With a drone for recording, two things are most important: the quality of the footage and whether the footage is stable. Antigravity A1 performs exceptionally well here, as it combines recording in full 8K 360° with advanced digital stabilization, which smooths movements in every direction. This makes the shots look clean and smooth - no micro shakes or jerks.

However, it is worth noting the difference from classic drones DJI. Models such as the Mavic and Mini use the mechanical stabilization on the gimbal, which physically nullifies vibration and angle changes. The A1 doesn't have a gimbal, because with a 360° camera... it's not needed. Here the entire module is placed on a 6-axis gyroscope - so the material remains stable. The great advantage of registering the full sphere is the following drone does not appear in the shot. The A1's design and lens placement make the device disappear from the frame, leaving only a clean environment.

In a classic drone, you first get up, do some reconnaissance, set the camera angle and only then record the actual shot. In A1, this whole procedure disappears, nyou play everything at once, and you choose the right frame only in post-production - by rotating the image, moving it or cutting out the best part of the scene. This is a completely new way of working that significantly saves flight time and gives full creative freedom. It is worth noting that despite the time saved on the fly, we have to spend much more of it on editing the material.

Antigravity A1 range and flight time

Zasięg i czas lotu Antigravity A1

The Antigravity A1 is designed to provide the longest possible runtime while keeping the drone lightweight. On a standard battery it can stay in the air up to about 22 minutes. A battery with increased capacity is also available (requires C1 privileges), which extends the flight even up to 35 minutes. A standard battery needs about 45-58 minutes depending on the charging method, while a high-capacity battery charges on average 60-103 minutes.

In terms of range, the A1 can reach up to 6 km in the European CE standard (under ideal, noise-free conditions). This result is comparable to light drones DJI and fully sufficient for normal flights.

Antigravity A1 has a return-to-home (RTH) function, the drone uses GPS, BeiDou and Galileo, so it can determine its location and return to its launch site. In addition, if the signal is lost or the battery level drops to a critical level, it will also perform rth.

Antigravity A1 sensors and features

Czujniki i funkcje Antigravity A1

The manufacturer has equipped Antigravity A1 with a set of features that make flying easy and 360° recording safe and intuitive. The most important element is front obstacle detection sensors, which work in conjunction with algorithms that analyze the environment in 360° (horizontally). Interestingly, even though the sensors are only on the front, the drone can effectively avoid obstacles from different directions - using information about its position, direction of flight and depth of view cameras.

The A1 also offers various flight modes to suit users' needs:

  • FreeMotion allows you to control the drone like a laser pointer - just point to a spot in space, press the trigger and the device will fly exactly where you want it to go. This is a huge simplification for people who are just starting their drone adventure. Nevertheless, beginners are advised to test the equipment in a large and open space, so that they can safely feel the flying of the drone.

  • For more experienced users, there are fPV mode, in which the movement of the wrist translates directly into the direction of flight. This is an ideal option if you want dynamic flights and precise control.

  • We also have autonomous functions - the drone is equipped with a sky Path mode, which allows you to plan a full flight route and let A1 perform it on its own. You can also pass the goggles to your friends, who will see the flight from the first person, even if it's the drone doing all the maneuvers.

  • There was also no shortage of object tracking - A1 is able to follow the indicated target, keeping it in focus. What's more, since it captures full 360°, in post-production you can change the position of the camera relative to the subject without losing quality.

Application of Antigravity A1

Zastosowanie Antigravity A1

Antigravity A1 is a drone that will find its place between classic models such as DJI Mini 5 Pro and FPV drones. This makes it applicable to several completely different audiences. For whom is this equipment?:

  • for people who would like to get eye-catching FPV shots, but don't have the time or inclination to spend hours learning to fly in manual mode. The A1 gives you some of that dynamic range, and with 360° recording, you can reproduce the camera's movement exactly as you want it, without making difficult maneuvers.
  • interesting option for beginner pilots, who are just getting confident in flying. The ability to select the frame only after the flight means that during the flight itself you can focus solely on safe control, rather than on fine-tuning the camera. This significantly lowers the entry threshold and helps build good habits without unnecessary stress.
  • for people who think creatively and want to experiment. The 360° camera opens up a whole new range of possibilities: from unusual, "impossible" frames, to shots that could not normally be taken without risking the loss of equipment. Here, even the more challenging movie scenes become simpler, because you record the entire space, and only later decide what you want the final result to look like.

It's a drone for creators who want more freedom - both when flying and in post-production.

Antigravity A1 - price and availability

Summary

Podsumowanie

Antigravity A1 is undoubtedly one of the most interesting launches of this year - Mainly because it shows a completely new approach to droning. The A1 not only records the full sphere, but simplifies the process of creating shots and opens up possibilities that no manufacturer has offered before.

Personally, I think this solution is extremely successful - especially in such a small and lightweight form. Compared to classic drones, the possibilities here have increased really significantly. A1 allows you to catch shots that were previously difficult, risky or simply impossible. If anyone is looking for a fresh perspective on aerial filming, they have just found it.
