[Review] Syma W1 Pro Explorer - first contact with a drone
2019-09-28
My drone adventure has just begun!
When choosing the first drone with which to enter the world of sky travel, I was guided by price and quality.
The ideal solution turned out to be the Syma W1 PRO drone.
In the box I found, of course: drone, battery, propeller guards, spare propellers, smartphone holder, charger and user manual.
Drone made decently, holding it in the hand you feel that it is not a plastic toy and something more.
All you have to do now is download the smartphone app and you can get started!
The simple and clear application makes it easy to use, so even a layman like me can handle it without problems.

Features and functions of Syma W1 Pro
The drone is equipped with barometer, thanks to which we can hover in the air, just let go of the controller knob and the drone will maintain a constant altitude without the need for control (I tested in a gentle wind and the drone managed).
Thanks to the built-in gPS system we don't have to worry about losing the drone and with one click on the smartphone screen the drone flies to the place we indicate.
Novice mode allows you to create a virtual barrier behind which the drone will not fly - it is worth using it when you do not yet fully control the flight.
Another interesting and useful feature is homecoming - as soon as we lose the drone from the field of view, we click the icon in the application and the drone actually returns to the starting place, maybe not perfectly every 1 cm, but within 1- 2 m.
Controlling the drone is quite simple, we can fly in all directions. The more time we spend flying a drone, the more we are aware of what we are doing.
A very big plus for the fact that the Syma W1 Pro features brushless motors, which are much less susceptible to damage than the brush ones. No more need for frequent engine replacements.
The drone is equipped with up to two cameras: front recording video in 4K quality (according to the manufacturer) and the lower one allowing to obtain 720p quality.
However, after testing the drone, I find that the manufacturer did not fully specify the term 4K - this is the quality in which we will take pictures (attached' visible clearances at the top of the picture are the effect of reflection of strong sunlight from the propellers - this is not a defect of the camera!), while video will be shot in maximum full HD 1080p quality.
In the recordings while flying, you can see gentle shaking caused by the wind, but at this price it is as acceptable as possible.
The manufacturer has significantly improved the length of operation on a single charge in this model. I read that previously it was ok. 8-10 minutes and now declares even up to 18 minutes, which in practice, taking into account recording and wind resistance, gives us approx. 15 min. flight.

In conclusion, the Syma W1 Pro drone is the lower-end equivalent of the Spark and is ideal for beginners.
I recommend, Matthew :).
