UNITREE G1-D U8 humanoid robot

UNITREE G1-D U8 Humanoid Robot
The UNITREE G1-D U8 is a flagship research platform that combines a stable wheeled base with impressively precise, human-like manipulation. Equipped with Dex3-1 Tactile hands, it can not only handle objects, but also sense weight, texture, and resistance in real time. This makes it a powerful choice for Sim2Real research, Embodied AI development, and advanced hobbyist robotics projects that demand both mobility and dexterity.
With 33 degrees of freedom, smooth full-body motion, and a highly capable perception system, the G1-D U8 is built for users who want to explore next-level robotic interaction, AI training, and real-world object handling.

Dex3-1 Tactile hands – dexterity meets touch sensing
The G1-D U8 features Dex3-1 Tactile three-finger hands designed for delicate yet capable object handling. With pressure detection in the 10 g to 2500 g range, the robot can safely interact with fragile items such as glassware or fruit while still performing more demanding manipulation tasks.
Each hand offers 7 degrees of freedom: the thumb has 3 DoF, while the index and middle fingers have 2 DoF each. This setup enables agile, precise gripping across a wide variety of object shapes. Integrated RGB cameras further enhance grasping performance by combining visual and tactile data during manipulation. Each hand weighs approximately 650 g, measures 175 × 88 × 77 mm, and communicates via USB.

33 degrees of freedom for smooth, natural movement
With a total of 33 degrees of freedom, the UNITREE G1-D U8 is ready for complex motion sequences and refined object interaction. Its structure supports stable posture control while enabling flexible upper-body movement for advanced handling tasks.
The telescopic column with a 450 mm stroke allows smooth height adjustment from 1260 mm to 1680 mm, giving the robot a vertical working range of up to 2 m. This makes it suitable for interacting with both low-positioned objects and higher workstations.

Wheeled mobile base – speed, agility, and stability
The robot is built on a differential-drive wheeled chassis that can rotate 360° in place and move at speeds of up to 1.5 m/s. This gives it excellent maneuverability in tight indoor environments while still being efficient across larger spaces such as labs, workshops, offices, or warehouse-style settings.
The base dimensions of 570 × 525 × 197 mm provide a stable platform for precise manipulation. Compared to walking systems, this design reduces the risk of balance loss and makes the platform especially practical for controlled indoor operation and long experimental sessions.

Advanced perception system for multisensory awareness
The UNITREE G1-D U8 is equipped with a rich sensor suite for environmental perception and high-quality data collection. In the head, there is a binocular HD camera with a resolution of 3840 × 1200. The wrists include two HD cameras with 1920 × 1080 resolution, while the hands feature two RGB cameras for close-range visual support during grasping.
The mobile base supports navigation with LiDAR, two depth cameras, collision sensors, and a low-obstacle sensor. Together, these systems improve mapping accuracy, environmental awareness, and operational safety.

Up to 100 TOPS of computing power for demanding AI tasks
Inside, the robot uses a high-performance 8-core CPU together with an NVIDIA Jetson Orin 16G module delivering up to 100 TOPS of computing power. This hardware setup enables efficient processing of large data streams and smooth operation with advanced AI models in research, development, and experimental robotics workflows.

Efficient dual-battery power system
The dual-battery architecture independently powers the upper body and the wheeled base, helping extend total operating flexibility. The chassis uses a 30 Ah battery for up to 6 hours of runtime, while the upper body is powered by a 9000 mAh quick-release battery that can run for up to 2 hours.
This setup makes the G1-D U8 a strong option for long sessions, testing workflows, and advanced robotics experiments. The package also includes a charging dock for the base (51 V, 10 A) and a charger for the upper body, allowing parallel energy management for both systems.

A versatile platform for advanced robotics and AI research
The G1-D U8 configuration with Dex3-1 Tactile hands is one of the most versatile platforms for Sim2Real research and Embodied AI development. By combining 33 degrees of freedom, tactile sensing, and a powerful perception stack, it gives users the tools to explore complex tasks such as mechanical assembly, lab assistance, indoor logistics, and precision object handling where grip force matters.
For hobbyists, makers, robotics labs, and AI developers looking for a premium humanoid robot platform, the UNITREE G1-D U8 delivers an exciting blend of mobility, manipulation, and real-world sensing.
