Key advantages of the UNITREE A2-W

  • Wheel-driven quadruped design for efficient long-range movement
  • Payload capacity up to 25 kg while moving
  • Static load capacity up to 100 kg
  • Can overcome steps up to 30 cm high
  • Handles slopes up to 45°
  • Dual hot-swappable battery system
  • Up to 5 hours of runtime and up to 20 km range without load
  • Industrial-grade LiDAR and front HD camera for environmental awareness
  • Built-in speaker and microphone for voice communication
  • Expansion-ready platform with Intel Core i7, RS485, CAN, Gigabit Ethernet, and USB-C

Efficient wheel drive for longer missions

The A2-W is an upgraded version of the A2 platform, enhanced with wheels to improve travel efficiency over longer distances. This setup allows for smoother, more energy-efficient movement across mixed surfaces without giving up the terrain-handling advantages of a quadruped robot. It is an excellent fit for robotics enthusiasts and advanced users who want a mobile platform that can move faster and farther while staying stable and controlled.

Confident mobility on rough terrain

The UNITREE A2-W is designed to operate where traditional wheeled robots often struggle. It can safely climb steps up to 30 cm high and move across slopes of up to 45°. Thanks to its advanced motion control and rugged construction, it performs well on stairs, rubble, rocky ground, and other uneven surfaces. This makes it especially useful for technical inspections, field patrols, mobile logistics, and experimental robotics work in difficult locations.

Built for demanding use

The robot’s mobility is powered by a 12-motor PMSM system with low-inertia internal rotor joint motors, delivering quick response and reliable control even under heavy load. With maximum joint torque of around 180 Nm, the A2-W remains stable during dynamic maneuvers and intensive operation. Its body combines aluminum alloy with high-strength engineering plastics for durability, mechanical resistance, and long service life.

Transport gear across complex terrain

The UNITREE A2-W can also serve as a mobile transport platform for challenging environments. It can carry loads of up to 25 kg while moving, and support up to 100 kg in a static standing position. That means you can use it to move tools, measuring equipment, sensors, or other gear in places where conventional transport solutions are difficult to deploy. The wheel-based drive further improves efficiency during longer transport missions.

Real-time environmental awareness

To navigate safely, the robot uses an industrial LiDAR sensor together with a front-facing HD camera. This combination helps it detect obstacles, analyze the terrain, and maintain stable movement in changing surroundings. Front LED lighting also improves visibility in darker spaces, making the A2-W more practical for indoor facilities, low-light areas, and field work after sunset.

Battery system ready for extended field work

The A2-W uses a dual-battery system with two 9000 mAh batteries, giving it the endurance needed for more complex tasks. Without payload, the robot can operate for up to 5 hours and cover around 20 km. With a 25 kg load, it can work for approximately 3+ hours and travel around 12.5 km. The hot-swap battery design allows batteries to be replaced without shutting the robot down, helping keep missions running with minimal interruption. The system is also designed to operate in temperatures from -20°C to 55°C.

Powerful computing platform for development

The robot features an 8-core high-performance platform processor and an Intel Core i7 dedicated to user-side development. This gives advanced users and robotics enthusiasts plenty of room for custom applications, integrations, and experimental workflows. OTA updates are supported, and the available interfaces include RS485, CAN, Gigabit Ethernet, and USB-C, making it easier to connect external systems and accessories.
